From the estate of the artist Ernest Morenon, per the son of the artist, Providence, RI.
Morenon was elected to the National Academy of Design 1971 and 1978. See their website to see Morenon's works in their archives: nationalacademy.emuseum.com
Before emigrating to America, Morenon studied at the Paris Ecole des Beaux-Artes. In 1925 he received first prize at the Bridan Prize competition. In 1933 he was second at the Grand Prix of Rome. While still living in France, his massive art deco wood sculpture flanked the entrance gate to the 1937 Paris World's Fair.
Morenon throughout his life received extensive commissions for stone and bronze religious sculptures in cathedrals, public buildings.
