SPANISH COLONIAL ALTAR TABERNACLE, SAN SEBASTIAN
18th c., poss. Hispano-Filipino, an open, domed-form, hand-hewn wood case covered with brocade and repousse, reticulated silver, with silver orb and cross finial; a bone figure of San Sebastian, pierced with three removable wood arrows, wearing a silver halo, stands on a silver platform; a silver filigree lantern held by a silver angel hangs to each side; a pierced repousse silver curtain to the front frames the figure; below is a drawer flanked by silver swiveling candle arms; the figure 10"tall; total 19"h; 11.5"w; 5.5"d
The wood post behind figure is a replacement. Wire holding figure to post is original.
