late 18th c.; EXPORT PORCELAIN TEA SERVICE, basket of flower design, consisting of a strap-handled teapot with berry finial (glaze imperfection on shoulder of pot); (6) small bowls, 4"diam. (two different; one with rim flake) and (5) underplates, 6"diam. (two with rim chips and hairline); (2) small tea cups, 3.25"diam. (one with chip not matching); (5) saucers, 5.5"diam. (one cracked); (1) deep dish, 8"diam. (small hairline, flake to edge interior); along with (7) ARMORIAL EXPORT PORCELAINS, all with gold trim (rubbed here and there) and family crest initialed RB, consisting of a large covered sugar with strap handles, 6" (small hairline); deep dish with scalloped edge, 8"; a plate, 7.5"; and (2) teacups (one with hairline, chip to other) and (2) saucers , 5.5"diam. (hairline and chip)
Descended through the original Rhode Island family owners to the present. Family history says the porcelains were purchased directly off newly arrived ships docked at the Providence harbor.
