Collecetor's note: "Produced in the Spanish Vice Royalty of Peru or New Spain, most likely a high-level ecclesiastical commission, between 1680 and 1720. The fusion of European Baroque iconography with local indigenous techniques is characteristic of the Cuzco School. The central monstrance represents the body of Christ elevated before a celestial vision of the Holy Trinity, Mary to the left, far right a Saint (prob. John). On looking is an assembly of richly dressed European rulers, likely including King Charles II of Spain, and rival Islamic rulers wearing turbans; Saints and military figures guard the Eucharist."
