poss. Pennsylvania Dutch or Scandinavian; one painted green with horse handle and pinwheel carving, initialed and dated AMRMS 1864; 22"; 5.5"w; board 1"thick; the next, unpainted initialed KH and dated 1789 with overall carved wave-like decoration; 26"; 5"w; board 1" thick.
From a Western Massachusetts collector of Americana.
Mangle boards were used to wring the water out of, and smooth washed cloth.
