From the collection of a Cambridge, Massachusetts couple.
Giampaolo is a 22nd generation Murano glass artist. The Seguso family has been making Venetian glass since 1397. He is the son of the renowned glassmaker Archimede Seguso. After splitting with his father, Giampaolo opened his own stores in Venice and NYC (1993). This piece was purchased in Seguso's New York City store in 2002. His works are in major museums around the world-from the Victoria and Albert in London, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Corning Museum in New York,
A fascinating, and gossipy book, 'City of Falling Angels' by John Berendt, is about the Venice Opera House fire in 1996 (La Fenice Opera House). It includes the tension between Giampaolo and his father.
