Fairey attended the RI School of Design. He is one of the most influential American street artists. Fairy created the propaganda 'Hope' poster of Barack Obama. In 2008 he used the Obama image to design Time Magazine's Person of the Year cover. In 2011 Time commissioned him for a second Person of the Year cover titled 'Protester'. His latest cover designing was in April 2020 for Rolling Stone with a portrait of Greta Thunberg.
