NEW YORK CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY SECRETARY, COOLIDGE FAMILY
c. 1750-1770, three-part, dense San Domingo mahogany, poplar secondary wood;
full-bonnet top with dental molding and original carved and gilded flame finials, gilded carved eagle to center; mid section, band of repeating oval molding above a pair of blind doors with flame mahogany panels with gilded surround; fall-front lid, the interior fitted with a center compartment with original mirror, flanked by sliding compartments, cubby holes and drawers; lower part with four graduated drawers having original bat wing brass; bold ball and claw feet with carved knees; 8'6"h incl. eagle finial; case 44"w; 23"d; at foot 48"w

An almost identical secretary stands in the Diplomatic Reception Rooms, US Department of State, Washington, D.C. The secretary is Washington is missing finials.
One drawer has piece missing at upper corner at lip; one backboard on lower section replaced; secondary wood to bonnet replaced.
