Indian Hill Farm in Newbury was the Poore family home, later the home of Moseley, Poore was a major 19th c. collector and pioneer of preservation of American antiquities incl. items from Mt. Vernon and the White House. Indian Hill was destroyed by fire in 1959.
This chest was authenticated by Robert Mussey, The Masterworks of John and Thomas Seymour. The angle cut of drawer slides at the back of the drawer bottoms is a signature of the Seymour workshop.
Minor vertical age splits in apron.
