NORTHWEST COAST WOOD SHRINE FIGURE
carved stylized male figure, the circular head with exaggerated features in relief, curved shoulders, slightly spread legs, rectangular torso; the face with distinct brow, almond shaped eyes, rounded cheeks and downward turned mouth with parted lips; 37" tall

Such figures were housed in large numbers in an enclosure and were potent powers which helped to lure whales toward shore.
Shows much weathering, as if kept outside, legs shortened, residual gray color.
