At times Philadelphia tall case clocks had works ordered from Thomas Wagstsaffe. Wagstaffe was a Quaker clockmaker working in London from 1756 to 1793. He made brass clock works for Quaker cabinetmakers in both Philadelphia and Newport, Rhode Island. In the 18th c. trade was common between American colonial Quakers and London Quakers.
Winterthur Museum has two Philadelphia Chippendale clocks with Wagsstaffe works.
