18th C. CHIPPENDLAE MAHOGANY ARMCHAIR
poss. Maryland, with pierced splat, stop-fluted stiles; shaped and scrolled arms, cabriole legs ending in carved shell/hairy pad feet; original seat frame scribed XII; 37.5" h; 27.5"w arm to arm; seatrail 16.5"h, 24"w (back framed scribed XI)
Clipping glued to frame:
Avonville...Early brick (1760) manor house....just 5 miles from the center of Easton" (Maryland) where the chair is purported to originate, seems to be one of a set of twelve.
Minor surface scuffs and wear.
