Purportedly this painting was in the attic of the house in Ashfield, Massachusetts which belonged to the artist Edwin Romanzo Elmer, famous for his 'Mourning Picture' in which this house is seen.
Recently cleaned; blacklights fine; minor inpaint along upper edge.
