overall 58.25"; early 19th c. Westmorland/Unity-style flint-lock rifle with bold relief carving at butt, breech tang, entry thimble, ramrod channel, and both sides of lock/side plate; 42.75" seven-groove octagon barrel with a 2.5" pointed tang; barrel signed on top flat S Bisle, 5.75" x 7/8" original configuration and complete flint lock plate which is stamped IR on back of plate below pan, possibly John Rogers or James Ross; 4" two-screw with release button toe plate; 8.5" trigger guard with unusual single set trigger with small latch; 7/8" silver escutcheon at wrist; eight-pointed star at cheek rest; brass furniture except escutcheon and star; original wood ramrod with finger thimble still present.

Curly maple stock retains deep original patina; barrel pins repaired during 19th c. with improved flat slot pins; minor wood replacement at lock edge bottom, rear of lockplate, and near barrel tang; wood stabilization at barrel tang.
