BOXED WWII CHRONOMETER, ULYSSE NARDIN 5881
in brass bound case with label 8410, and outer box also with Nardin label; 7.5"h; 3" sq.;
the outer box 10"h; 9.75" sq. In running order at this time.
Note from a collector. "These machines were often sent to observatories for cleaning and service and were separated from their boxes...and spent as much as six months in servicing...getting them back into the right numbered boxes was not of major importance...Hamilton patterned their model 21 after this machine with improvements to the balance."
