unsigned, mixed media, matted; the first on sepia background, man with black coat, the image is painted on the reverse side of 19th c. ledger page, 12.75 by 7 in.; the second is a bearded gentleman in a black topcoat, 12.75 by 7.75 in (image), 16 by 10.5 in. (paper)
From the home of a major, long-time collector of Americana in the Boston area. This mysterious group of portraits were given to the consignor by his friend Leonard Baskin a very long time ago and the history regarding them is forgotten.
