France, 19th c., eagle emblem, consisting of a covered tureen, 11", with underplate and ladle; a pair of gravy boats with underplates; and (2) deep plates, 10"diam.
Edme Samson opened his firm in Paris in 1845 to make service replacements and reproductions of fine china including Chinese Qing Dynasty, Meissen, Sevres and Derby porcelains. His intention was never to deceive buyers. The company used hard-paste porcelain, whereas the originals were mostly made with soft-paste porcelain.
