o/c, 14.25 by 19.25 in.; gilt frame, under glass 24.5 by 29.25 in.
Purchased in the 1950's from Boston dealer Harold Asnis. Descended to their son, the late David Smith, Beacon St., Boston. Mr. Smith was a Boston lawyer and law partner of the former Lt. Governor of Massachusetts, Lawrence Cahill.
Bonington died in London from brain fever at the early age of 27 from sunstroke as a result of continuous painting en plein.
Needs cleaning.
