Beall, a member of the Society of Illustrators, won their award of Excellence in 1961. He also belonged to the American Watercolor Society, The Salmagundi Club, the Hudson Valley Art Association, and the Overseas Press Club.
At the close of WWII, Beall was one of the privileged few to witness the surrender ceremony aboard the USS Missouri. His painting of the event was made the official one by President Harry Truman.
