From the John DeWitt Pratt estate, Cambridge, MA.
John Pratt (1942-2012) was the great-grandson of the co-founder of Pratt and Whitney in New Britain, CT. He served under three MA state governors and rose quickly to become welfare commissioner. He twice chaired the board of Planned Parenthood of MA. He was associate director for 25 years of the Whitehead Institute in Cambridge, MA, a non-profit dedicated to improving human health, where he created a sound foundation to launch their ground breaking biomedical research. He retired from there in 2006.
