the first, c.1850, a mandarin fan with hand-painted figures to both sides, with ivory faces and applied needlework robes; painted lacquer sticks, 11"; 20"open, in original hinged black and gold lacquer box with label, LEE CHING, Shanghia From Canton, box 14"; along with, c. 1900, a fan with pierced ivory sticks, the guard sticks heavily carved with figures; the fan leaf is hand-done needlework on silk, one side with birds, butterflies and florals, the other side with similar needlework; double tassel and Turks head knot typical of Chinese fans, 11"; 19"open
