Romantic period, c. 1830, the first with pierced bone sticks, both guards with enamel oval and applied hammered gold metal classical design, the fan leaf is gouache over lithograph of people in a landscape to both sides, original fitted box Shreve Crump & Low, Boston, 8.5"; 15.5"open; the other, mid 19th c., saffron dyed bone brise fan, Oriental scene with pagoda and figure to one side, painted floral edge and guard stick, 7"; 13"open (minor gilt rubbing to edges and on ribbon at folds); c. 1790-1800, Paris, hand-painted blue forget-me-nots to both sides, finely pierced saffron dyed bone sticks, blue stone studs in guard, 6"; 11"open
