From the home of a Connecticut gentleman. Purchased in Bali in the 1960's.
This is the third installment of this collection to be sold by CRN Auctions.
In the early 1960s, Arie Smit, a Dutch-born painter, invited the children of Penestanan, Ubud, to come and experiment with bright oil paints in his Ubud studio. This eventually developed the Young Artists style distinguished by the use of brilliant colors, a strong sense of design focusing on scenes and activities from every day life in Bali.
1.5" x 6" horizontal patch on reverse u.r. in the tree; also some foxing in two sections of the sky.
Estimate: $300 - $500
Realized: $275 - Excluding Buyer's Premium
