engraved portrait, possibly of Nicholas Brown II (1769-1841), descendent of John Brown (1736-1803), Providence, RI, in an ornately Chinese pierce-carved frame with bone inlay, frame overall, 23.5 by 19 in., opening measures, 15.5" by 11.25"
Descended through the Brown/Slocum family of Bellevue Ave., Newport, RI.
Harold Brown, descendent of John and Moses Brown, commissioned a summer mansion on Bellevue Ave, Newport RI to be built in the late 19th c. This was adjacent to his parent's mansion. The home was later purchased by the niece of Georgette Brown.
