(on 3) A COLLECTION OF 18TH C. ENGLISH BISQUE FIGURINES
(this and the next two lots)
the first, prob. Caughley, c. 1750, incised on bottom
6 L/N, is a large figural group with a tree surrounded by two women and two men playing instruments, 13.5" (minor cracks in the making at base and one tree limb; tips of a few leaves missing); along with a pair of couples with their dogs, one man seated in one, the other, the woman is seated (minor loss, top of instrument, piece of ribbon on man's hat), 8.75", appear not to be marked
Acquired by a lady from Georgia in the 1950's, and descended through the family.
The condition of these is remarkable considering the delicate detailing. In larger group, the instrument held in man's hand is missing.
Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500
Realized: $750 - Excluding Buyer's Premium
