JANE PETERSON (American, 1876-1965)
The Book Market, Rive Gauche, Paris
sgn. l.l. Jane Peterson,
watercolor and gouache, 18.5 by 16.5 in. (sight), gilt frame, under glass
From the home of a Boston gentleman.
Prov.: letter from Pauline Pocock Antiques, Inc., Fort Lauderdale, FL
One of many works put in storage at the Washington Storage Facility, Miami, which Miss Peterson used when her Fort Lauderdale Show (1942?) was dismantled, until her death in 1965. In 1970, after following the proper legal procedures, a sale of her effects was effected to cover unpaid storage fees at which this painting (among others) was purchased by Mr. Alex Alexander, Art Consultant, for his client Robert Draper, Ph.D. Dr. Draper's death led the Estate lawyers to contact Mr. Alexander for the disposal of the remainder of the collection who brokered them to our Gallery.
Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000
Realized: $2,000 - Excluding Buyer's Premium
