(11) CIVIL WAR FRACTIONAL PAPER COIN CURRENCY
(2) 1869 United States Treasury Notes, $1, no. V9320268(star); and a Jefferson $2 bill, E6557276(star), each approx. 3 by 7"; along with
(5) 1863 Fractional Currency notes, 10, 15, 25, 50 cents; an 1874 25 cent note; and (2) Postage Stamp receivable notes, a first series 1862, 10 cents
(faint folds); and an 1863, 50 cents; all approx. 2" x 3.5"; total incl. frame 18 by 20.5 in.

At the beginning of the Civil War, people started hoarding coins for their metal content. In August of 1862 the government introduced 'paper coins' in an attempt to ease this trend. August 1876 was the last issue of fractional notes. 1869 was the first year to have Jefferson on the $2 bill.
(2) 10 cents Fractionals-one worn, the other with folds. One of the notes has slipped off its adhesive.
