(16) original colored prints, each dated 1963 and numbered 18/25, signed in pencil by the various artists, approx. 16 by 12 in.; in original canvas and tapa cloth case, 13 by 17.5"
The original prints were compiled by artist Walter Feldman, Brown University faculty since 1952 (b. Lynn, MA, 1925) Feldman studied with deKooning and Albers in the 40's. Macleish was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1933 for his poem,
Conquistador. The poem, used as a basis of this collection of prints, symbolically presented Cortes's conquest of the Aztecs. Yale University Library has this folio in its collection.
