Wengenroth was once called "America's greatest living artist working in black and white" by the American painter Andrew Wyeth, and is generally considered to be one of the finest American lithographers of the twentieth century. His works are in the collections of the Whitney Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York., and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
