carved with the six coat of arms of the United Provinces of Central America - Guatemala, Chiapas (Mexico), El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
The Spanish Colonial period in Latin America ended in 1821. In 1823 the United Provinces of Central America was formed. It dissolved in 1838 due to disputes between Liberals and Conservatives, and these countries remained separate.
