QUEEN ANNE MAPLE HIGHBOY BASE, DUNLAP
18th c., New Hampshire, fan-carved apron, high cabriole legs, 35.5"h; 28.5"w; 19"d
From a grand brick townhouse home of a Boston couple.
Major John Dunlap (1746-1792) was a cabinetmaker and farmer from Goffstown and Bedford, N.H. His brothers Samuel (1752-1830) and William joined him in his shop in Goffstown in the late 1700's. Eleven of their descendants became cabinetmakers in New Hampshire. From Major Dunlap's records, it can concluded that only the wealthier mill owners and farmers could afford to buy Dunlap furniture.

Estimate: $800 - $1,200
Realized: $325 - Excluding Buyer's Premium
