The Whitney Museum, NYC, exhibited Thek's work in 2010, "Paul Thek: Diver, A Retospective" from October 21, 2010 to January 9, 2011

The pair illustrates Thek's interpretation of the Casper D. Freidrich 1818 painting
"Wanderer above the Sea of Fog" which now resides in the Kunsthalle Museum in Hamburg, Germany. This diptych appears to be part of a series, but were the only 2 ever exhibited and shipped back to the US by Thek for gallery representation. Two other's were sold at Christies' Post War and Contemporary sale November 15, 2012, Lots 650 and 651, and a third is in a private collection in London.
