JAPANESE SAMURAI ARMOR (GUSOKU)
19th c., black lacquered metal helmet with gilt roundel (maedate) and 3-tiered neck guard (jikoro) bound with purple thread; black lacquered face half mask (uba menpo) with 5-tiered throat guard (nodokake); pair of shoulder guards (sode); pair of sleeves (tsutsu-gote) with hand covers (tekko); russet iron cuirass (do) with pocket and four sectioned skirt (kasazuri) with 5-tiers; thigh protectors (haidate) and leg guards (shino suneate); 2 armpit pads (waki-ita); horsetail hairs on a rod
