David Abbate (1949-2013) of New York and New Jersey, fascinated by samurai history started collecting Japanese swords as his first collection at the age of sixteen. He was to later become one of the prominent collectors and experts on the Italian Renaissance. Never losing his love of the samurai, one of his final purchases was this suit of Japanese armor. His vast collection of the Renaissance was sold by CRN Auctions in May of 2014.
