SALAMPASU COPPER MASK, Mukinka

These masks were worn by warrior members of the Ibuku Society who have killed an enemy, either in battle or in the forest.
The copper found on 'mukinka' masks was imported from the south east. The mask embodied the paramount chiefs authority and only danced at funerals of the very old and distinguished.
