letter of authenticity on reverse: Lucien Goldschmidt, New York
"Standing male nude seen from the back. Original pen and brown ink drawing on light tan paper, 9 1/8 x 3 3/4 inches. Strongly accented contours and the closely woven cross-hatching, the feeling for the bony structure so close beneath the skin is typical of drawings attributed to Passarotti." (Fogg Museum) The artist was deeply influenced by Michelangelo's draughtsmanship. His male nudes are extremely close to the drawings of Bandinelli. This drawing is striking and well preserved, with the collector's mark B in the top right hand corner. There is a waterstain in the lower part of the drawing.
Water stain in lower right corner.
