Part of the original lavish decorations of Boston's Keith Memorial Theatre at 539 Washington St., later sold to become RKO-Keith Theatre. Descended through the family of one of the RKO Theatre's owners.
The B.F. Keith Memorial Theatre was designed by theater architect Thomas White Lamb who was told to 'spare no expense'. It opened as a lavish vaudeville house in 1928, later to become part of the RKO theater chain. RKO -Keith's Theatre was a picture cinema from the 1930's to the 60's, until it was purchased by Sack Theatres, who refurbished it close to its original opulent beauty, and renamed it the Savoy. In 1978 it was purchased by the Opera Company of Boston. In 2004, refurbished at the cost of $50 million, it opened as the Boston Opera House, with the Boston Ballet in residence.
