From the collection of Philip Hofer (1898-1984) Secretary of Harvard University's Fogg Art Museum, who donated it to the first Channel Two Auction in 1976 when it was purchased by the consignor.
Possibly made in the kilns at Tz'u Chou, which produced many of the tiles for the Imperial Palace in Peking.
Horse has both rear legs missing.
