Along with genealogy research, including family of Elisabeth's husband, Benjamin Pierce, also from Newbury/Essex, whom she married in 1792.
See a similar example in Betty Ring's 'Girlhood Embroidery', page 116, figure 129, which suggests samplers containing these particular birds were done by students of Ann Waters.
