From 1919-1921, Beneker was employed by the Hydraulic Pressed Steel Co. in Cleveland, Ohio as an artist-in-residence, given a studio in the factory, and commissioned to paint a series of worker's portraits, this being one. The series became a touring exhibit, traveling through the midwest and northeast where it was shown in 1925 at the Vose Gallery in Boston.
Very minor in-paint in backgroud near shoulders.
