'Glory of the Seas' was the last ship built by Donald McKay, also the builder of the famous clipper ship 'Flying Cloud', at his E. Boston shipyard in 1869. The ship was consistently one of the fastest ships making record passages from New York to San Francisco to Australia. She was later sold to parties in British Columbia to transport lumber; then sold to pay creditors. Later she was converted into a floating salmon cannery, and was destroyed by fire while at berth in Puget Sound in May of 1923.
