Noyes, born in Ontario, Canada, was a prominent member of the Boston School of American Impressionists. He studied in Paris from 1890-93, and in the summer of 1901, teaching in Annisquam, MA, one of his students was N.C. Wyeth. He primarily worked at the Fenway Studios in Boston. A barn fire in 1939 destroyed much of his work. He died in Peterborough, NH
