MONUMENTAL WALTER DURFEE CARVED MAHOGANY TALL CLOCK
c. 1900, 8-day brass triple-train movement strikes 9 nickel plated tubes, broken-arch dial has applied gilt bronze numerals and engraved frets; a seconds sweep, and 2 subsidiary option dials,'Chime-Silent' and 'Westminster-8-Bell'. The painted moon phase dial shows 2 moons, a sailing ship and a cottage. Broken arch bonnet , the hood and waist with fluted quarter columns and beveled glass doors, on carved paw feet. The moon dial is stamped Durfee..., tubes stamped Walter H. Durfee & Co. Prov. RI Pat. Nov. 8'87 Sept. 18'88 Nov. 1'92 Oct. 6'96

Durfee a Providence RI clock manufacturer, retailed by Bailey, Banks & Biddle, Co., Philadelphia which name appears on an engraved plate on the dial.
