Furse was a frequent collaborator with Sir Laurence Olivier. In 1948 he won 2 Oscars for his art direction and costume design for Olivier's version of of
Hamlet. In 1961 he was nominated for a Tony Award for his set design for the hit drama, Duel of Angels.
