This and the following two lots are earlier works inspired by Margules' trip to Paris from 1926-28 where he experimented with 'time painting'. Moving clockwise, the painting imitates changes in color and atmosphere with the passing of time, each quadrant never interrupting the image, giving the viewer a larger than life experience of that location.
